Postdoctoral Scholar

Takaaki Samura, M.D., Ph.D. is a cardiovascular surgeon and postdoctoral researcher focusing on advanced heart failure and regenerative medicine.
In the clinical field, he serves as a co-investigator in nationwide multicenter studies on Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) therapy and infective endocarditis, and applies machine learning to develop risk prediction models for advanced heart failure.
His basic science research centers on cardiac regeneration, including the construction of bioengineered cardiac tissue using extracellular matrix and human iPS cells. He is currently working on the generation of functional hearts through blastocyst complementation as a next-generation organ regeneration strategy.
